How to give your Ikea Kallax new paint or Legs
And how to paint laminate cabinets so they actually last!
Sometimes you are bored and want to give your IKEA Kallax a new color and style. However, the laminated surface on their units makes it difficult for you to apply paint. Therefore, you should coat it with a primer to make your repainting process easier.
- Use two layers of primer, two layers of paint, and two coats of varnish for a perfect result.
To beautify your cabinet doors, you can replace original IKEA handles with Plywood ones for a contemporary feel. - Apart from repainting, lifting Kallax by giving it tapered wooden legs is also great. Creating a base out of a furniture board is a good idea to avoid making holes in an IKEA unit.
- Cut the board to the length and width of the Kallax cabinet, then drill holes in the four corners where you can attach the tapered legs with screws.
- After finishing the base legs, you must place the Kallax cabinet on top.
- Last, you can stain the legs for the final touch.
