Tired of squeezing into a small queen bed? It’s time for a bedroom upgrade with a luxurious king-size bed! At first, we were skeptical about fitting a king bed in our tiny 11×11 bedroom. So, we asked our Instagram audience for their opinion, and they convinced us that a king bed was the way to go. With the help of a skilled handyman (my husband!), we designed a custom king bed that perfectly balances style and functionality.
Inspired by the chic Mandal headboard from IKEA, we wanted a more upscale and permanent feel, similar to a stylish motel bed featured on Domino. To add to the sophistication, we installed smart plug-operated wall sconces and shelves that wirelessly charge our phones. Goodbye, cord clutter!
Now, a heads-up: this headboard isn’t your typical DIY project. It’s a complex undertaking that requires a French cleat and bracket system to support the 10 1/2 ft long maple boards. But don’t worry, we have sources for you if you want to shop the look.
