Oh, look at you! Back on to our magazine again, where we love the unusual, the quirky, the breathtaking, and sometimes the awe-inspiring. Yes, it’s me again, and this time, we’re in for a wild ride! Picture this: a home that’s as unique as its owners. You remember that family in Ohio that built a dreamy, luxury home inside a cave, right? Buckle up because we’re going back to Ohio to revisit them. Only this time, they’re taking us on a tour of their stunning A-frame cabin.

Okay, I need to say this: It’s the most beautiful A-frame cabin I’ve ever seen! And I’ve seen plenty. But what makes this cabin truly spectacular are the three different levels within it. And wait till you get to the top level. It’s a sight to behold! So, stay with me and make sure you see the whole tour.

Meet the ever-inviting hosts, Bryant and Amy, welcoming everyone to the Dunlap Hollow A-frame. Here’s the backstory: They yearned for a tranquil escape outside the city. Being a builder by profession, Bryant couldn’t resist the allure of an A-frame cabin, a structure that embodies simplicity and blends seamlessly with its natural environment.

Designing their dream cabin was a labor of love. Deciding on a 24-foot wide interior space and a 30-foot high peak allowed them to create three stunning levels. The goal? To create a space that felt incredibly warm and cozy. A home that would be their personal haven. So, they designed it to embody everything they find special: stargazing, cozy, lazy moments in bed, and so on.

The building process spanned eight months. They ended up spending around $170,000 on materials, not including labor, since they handled most of the work themselves. Had they hired labor, the cost would have escalated to about $400,000. But hey, it was all worth it!

Once just a city escape, the A-frame cabin has morphed into a getaway for many, hosting bachelorette parties, birthday parties, family reunions, and more. It’s heartwarming to see how the cabin has brought families and friends together and how it attracts city dwellers yearning for a taste of nature.

The A-frame’s exterior is a sight to behold. Standing 45 feet tall, it’s a real head-turner! Constructing it was a considerable task, with scaffolding, telehandlers, and good old manual labor all in the mix. But the real attraction? Triangles, the quintessential A-frame shape, were chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their strength.

When designing the cabin, Bryant and Amy were inspired by A-frames with steep sides and a modern Scandinavian look. They incorporated natural elements such as cedar siding to help it blend with its surroundings. Outside, the spacious patio area is a welcoming sight, featuring on-site trails that lead to a massive cave and an 80-foot waterfall!

Step inside the cabin, and you’re greeted by a grand oak table that can accommodate up to 10 guests. Art lovers would appreciate the beautiful impressionist painting by Bryant’s father, adorning the wall of the cabin. The lower level houses the first bedroom and a bathroom. The kitchen is a dream, with a wide view and plenty of natural light. And did I mention the locally roasted coffee?

The living room’s stunning glass facade gives a spectacular view of the forest, stretching from floor to ceiling. Let’s not even talk about the suspended fireplace! Head up to the second level, and you will find two more bedrooms, one with a private balcony and another bathroom. The inspiring John Muir quote on the wall is just the icing on the cake.

As you ascend to the third level, you find everyone’s favorite room. Here, amidst the 360-degree views of the trees, the sky, and the cliffs, it feels like you’re in a treehouse. It’s a magical place where you can watch the sunrise, stargaze, or simply lose yourself in the beauty of nature.

The A-frame was a testament to Bryant and Amy’s commitment to excellence. Their dream project was so successful that it paved the way for another venture, the luxury cave home. Today, they host guests in both the A-frame and the cave, making their unique homes a dream come true for many visitors.
