How to Refresh an Antique Mirror with Spray Paint

Last summer Shaun was helping a friend move out of his farm house when he stumbled upon an old mirror in the attic. Knowing that I have a love for remaking old furniture, he immediately sent me a picture.
“Interested?” Absolutely! It actually ended up being Shaun’s friend’s wife’s grandmother’s.

It didn’t really fit the look the couple was going for in their new home, so I happily scooped it up.

And here it sat plainly in my bedroom for quite some time. I was torn on what to do with it. I thought about gold, but I worried it would just end up looking brassy and cheap.

I loved the look of a white mirror with a white wall like this one from Pinterest,

but I had a feeling it would just end up looking dull in my basic bedroom void of architectural features.

Eventually, I decided to do a pale silver.
I covered up the mirror with newspaper and painter’s tape and sanded it down

And sprayed it with a few even coats of white matte spray paint.

Again, here’s the before:

And the after (now that I’ve also updated the bedspread and added some art and a chair!).

What do you think? Like the silver? Should it be darker? Or another color all together? I’d love to hear your opinion!
