Ok, so here it is –
the big reveal! But it wouldn’t be “me and myself” without sharing my five truths I have learned during this process…
1. You have to do what you can afford.
Me – I went to the dollar store. I’m not spending my life savings on my pantry. The total project – probably about $20. The only thing I splurged on was a new light which cost me $60ish.
2. Their opinion counts.
It has to work for everyone. I can organize to my heart’s content (I AM a long time project manager.) but if it doesn’t work for the whole family – it just doesn’t work. I had everyone test the bins, the location of their favorite stuff. Everyone had input.
3. Where there’s a will there’s a way.
You have to be willing to get rid of stuff. Look, “being willing” is a basic rule in life. You aren’t going to get anything done if you aren’t willing to. I just HAD to be willing to ditch some stuff I truly didn’t need.
4. Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle. You get the idea.
5. Nothing’s perfect.
Including my new pantry. It may not even stay this way. But hey, every time you take a shot at organizing, your life tends to get easier. You feel good when you open the door to that closet or pantry. But be OK with your limits and just do what you can.

I did a couple of small projects besides what I have already shared. I spray painted my herb racks before labeling them:
I also spray painted the former boot tray from the garage to put “extra food” on the floor. (You know that food that is the back up because something is about to run out?)
I wanted something that slid in and out. There wasn’t clearance for wheels, so I used the boot tray instead.
(Update 3/22/14: The paint did not adhere to the boot tray over time. Probably because of something I did wrong but ultimately not worth the spray paint I used! Like always – just being honest!)
And I added this pendant light (hard to take photos) from It’s Exciting Lighting. (No, they are not paying me, this is unsolicited lamp love.) Runs on batteries and comes with a remote! I LOVE IT. No electricity required.
