12 DIY Projects to Make Your Small Kitchen More Functional and Stylish

3. A Sliding DIY pegboard idea for a More Functional Kitchen Organization

This DIY project solves two problems: lack of wall space and clutter. A sliding pegboard that hides away in your kitchen cabinet is perfect for organizing tools and other items. Before mounting:

  1. Paint the pegboard and glue furring strips to the back, and ensure they are parallel.
  2. Use double-sided carpet tape between the screw holes to fix the pegboard to the spacers attached to the drawer glides.
  3. Pre-drill through the spacer rails into the cabinet and then screw through the drawer glides and spacers into the cabinet.

The sliding pegboard is now ready to use. Although pegboard hooks come in all shapes and sizes, they tend to fall out easily, so be careful when removing your tools.

While this project is an excellent idea for organizing tools and supplies, it’s essential to consider the weight limit of the drawer glides and pegboard. Additionally, since the drawer glides are attached to the pegboard, the project may require modification if you wish to use the pegboard for something other than a sliding cabinet.
