A Kitchen Appliance Garage Project Idea with Tambour Door
So, have you ever heard of an appliance garage with a tambour door?
Yeah, me neither, not too long ago. But apparently, it’s a thing that can make your kitchen look more aesthetically pleasing.
So, you gotta grab your boards and trim them to the size of the strips. I mean, I don’t know about you, but the last time I trimmed something, it ended up looking like a butcher had gotten a hold of it.
Then you gotta spray the strips with a layer of water-based polyurethane on both sides. And let me tell you, you do not want to mess with polyurethane. I once spilled that stuff on my pants, and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.
And if that wasn’t enough, you gotta apply wood glue to the back of each strip and stick some cloth or fabric. I mean, I’ve never been great with glue. The last time I tried to fix something with glue, I had a bigger mess than when I tried to cook a soufflé.
But if you can get past all that, you still gotta install the panel at the opening of your kitchen cabinet. And let me tell you, installing anything is not my forte. The last time I tried installing a new showerhead, I flooded the bathroom.
But if all goes well, you’ll have a tambour door that opens and closes smoothly. Just ensure you attach the door handle at the last strip of the door panel, or you’ll end up with a door that won’t open.
