A kitchen island hack project with IKEA KALLAX
Ah, the classic IKEA hack.
It’s like a rite of passage for anyone looking to upgrade their home on a budget. And this kitchen island hack with the KALLAX shelves is a prime example of the genre.
So, for this hack, our intrepid DIYer needed two KALLAX shelves, a door block, a block with two drawers, some boards, paint, wallpaper, glue, and magnets. It’s like a scavenger hunt, but instead of finding random items in nature, you’re finding them in a giant Swedish furniture store.
First things first, paint the small board with blackboard paint. You know, in case you need to write down your grocery list or a funny joke to entertain yourself while cooking.
Next, paint the larger board green on one side and cover it with wallpaper on the other. It’s like a reversible jacket but for your kitchen island.
Then, arrange the shelves and worktops on the medium board, with the glass one on top. And finally, arrange the magnets on the small-medium board to close it all up. It’s like a puzzle, but instead of cardboard, you’re putting together pieces of furniture.
And there you have it, folks. A kitchen island hack that’s easy on the wallet and high on style. So next time you wander around IKEA, don’t be afraid to think outside the flat-pack box.
