This industrial farmhouse kitchen is proof that a small kitchen can have great design and be super functional. The kitchen has an island with seating, statement lighting, and an adorable SMEG refrigerator. The shelving space is maximized buy installing a slim modern hood fan. The ceiling feels taller by carrying the tiled back splash all the way up the wall. A bar cart (that can easily be wheeled away when more space is needed) serves as extra storage for recipe books, dry foods and more! Great space saving idea.

Cozy Country Small Kitchen

This kitchen gives me all the feels. I can fully imagine myself coming inside from feeding the chickens and making myself a cup of coffee in this beauty. The two large windows really open the space up and with everything painted white the space is light and bright. I love the layers of texture with the shiplap ceiling, wood paneled walls, and tile back splash. Even though the space has a monochrome color palette the texture keeps things interesting. The narrow kitchen island is a great solution if you don’t have quite enough space for a full island and need a bit more surface are for food prep.

This small kitchen is everything. Simple, functional, and elegant. Not an inch of space is wasted – see how that little dishwasher is nestled in the corner? Narrow storage on the left-hand side is a great idea, and the perfect place to store mugs. Its great that it utilizes an empty wall. There is no room to waste in a small kitchen! The large window above the sink is a great focal point for the kitchen, and makes it seem so much larger. I love the contrast of the crisp white space with natural wood in the butcher block counter tops, and raw beam running across the ceiling.

Bright and Cheery

One thing’s for sure, if you’ve got a small kitchen, it better be a space you enjoy. Working in a small kitchen can be a pain. Running out of counter space. Tripping over small children. Stepping on dogs… But if you put in the effort to design and decorate a space you love it will be worth it. This small kitchen its bright and cheery with incorporating robins egg blue cabinets and adorable country inspired accents.

A Tiny Good Luck Charm

OK after seeing this kitchen I’m convinced I need a brass horseshoe in my house. Jillian Harris has one in her home and it’s the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen! Plus its good luck right? Kelly knocked this tiny kitchen out of the park with walnut counter tops, grey cabinets, and white shiplap. Small farmhouse accents like the horseshoe and the scenic artwork give the kitchen a cozy vibe, while still staying clean and modern. Kelly did a fantastic job overcoming the small footprint of their tiny home. They even fit a washer and dryer in this kitchen. Check out her tiny home tour here to see more photos!

White Bright and Tiny Kitchen

Sometimes the best small kitchen ideas are simple. Like choosing a simple color. Have you spotted a trend among these small kitchens? Almost all of them are completely white. Selecting white finishes in your small kitchen will really help to expand the space and make it feel larger. Naturally dark and moody spaces feel smaller that white and bright ones. White walls also really help reflect and maximize natural light in a small space. The kitchen has an awkward layout but the space is maximized by including a little breakfast bar.

Isn’t this the most precious little kitchen you’ve seen? Nestled into a teeny tiny corner of this heritage home your eye is drawn to this space. The reclaimed wood paneled walls on the outside paired with the floor to ceiling white subway tile in the kitchen makes for the perfect contrast. I love the thick reclaimed wood shelves inside the kitchen as well, they really tie the whole thing together.

Small kitchens don’t have enough storage, and when you’re a Costco shopper (like me) you need tons of space to store your bulk food buys. Adding inexpensive shelving is a great small kitchen idea. The IKEA IVAR system is the perfect solution. Its narrow, functional and has tons of options guaranteed to fit all your storage needs. No pantry? No problem!

Maximizing storage in a country farmhouse kitchen

Laura from Little Yellow Wheelbarrow just finished renovating her country farmhouse kitchen. I love the mix of dark wood on the ceiling and the hardwood floors (which she re-finished herself btw) combined with the fresh white cabinets. As you can see in her small kitchen, she’s really maximized the storage space. Hanging pots and pans above the window, and adding storage baskets above the cabinetry just to name a few. Laura has more great tips on how you can maximize storage space in your small kitchen, check them out here.

Your ideas on how to design a small kitchen space to maximize storage were definitely helpful to read, so I appreciate you showing them. Since we have a very small kitchen in our house, I figured that working on making it effective as a kitchen instead of trying to enlarge it might be a better way to spend our money. With that said, I’ll look around for any remodeling contractors who can help me pull this off.
